Thinking Differently (Just Like Mackenzie!)

Here at Arthaus, we’ve been lucky enough to work alongside Mackenzie Thorpe for many years now — and if there’s one thing we’ve learnt, it’s this: seeing the world a little differently is something to be celebrated.

That’s why we’ve loved tuning into The Art of Dyslexic Thinking podcast. It’s full of brilliant people chatting about how thinking differently — especially with a creative brain like Mackenzie’s — isn’t a problem, it’s a gift.
For anyone who knows Mackenzie’s story, this will ring a bell. He’s spoken often about how tricky school was for him growing up in Middlesbrough, especially with undiagnosed dyslexia. But rather than letting it hold him back, Mackenzie found another way to tell his story: through pictures, not words. Big-hearted, full-of-emotion, straight-from-the-soul kind of pictures.
It’s this ‘dyslexic thinking’ — seeing the bigger picture (sometimes literally!), feeling your way through ideas, and finding creative solutions where others might see a dead end — that’s made Mackenzie’s work so beloved around the world.
The podcast champions people just like him: artists, entrepreneurs, designers, and dreamers who prove that different ways of thinking lead to some of the most inspiring ideas. It’s a good listen if you’re looking for a bit of positivity and a reminder that there’s no one ‘right’ way to see the world.
So next time you’re in the gallery, standing in front of one of Mackenzie’s beautiful, heartfelt pieces, remember this: you’re looking at the work of someone who turned a so-called ‘difficulty’ into a lifelong creative adventure. And we think that’s something worth shouting about.

Give The Art of Dyslexic Thinking podcast a listen — it might just make you see things differently too.
