William Hague bought "From the Heart" in 1999.

"The harsh world of politics wears you down. At the end of the day all I need is to escape. Mackenzie has this unique abilty to create a world just enough removed from the harshness of this one, but so endeniably relevent to our lives. The images he creates may initially seem to say one thing but also bring other thoughts and feelings to your mind and eventually you view the image with a completely different eye.

"From The Heart" is one of Mackenzie's greatest images. My favourite aspect of the picture is the sky. The subtle change from day to night. The lone tree to the right which represents the solitary mackenzie looking onto the 2 main characters. The picture says to me that no matter how hard things get there will be someone who can always put a smile on your face and offer you their love. That person is the essence of this picture. That person whoever they may be, and the love they offer you may
be the only thing that this picture needs to remind you of."
