WAKAN TANKA

As a child of the 50’s, Mackenzie’s’ playtime games were heavily influenced by Cowboys and Indians. John Wayne was a hero and Bonanza, a TV favourite.

His ongoing interest in the ‘Wild West’ culture continues today. Visitors to Arthaus may recall seeing selected cowboy images on show, (at the old Rosemary Lane gallery they were sometimes fresh from the easel, displayed on the stairs) and those of you who attended the Destiny show, may also remember viewing a taster of this work.

Wakan Tanka, a stunning portrait of a native Indian recently wowed visitors to a gallery in Carmel, California. The mesmerising eye gaze of the wise serene face captivated viewers, holding them enthralled and encouraged one individual to purchase this stunning piece.

This body of work is not yet published, but there are images dating back over ten years.
