HILL PIECES
Cross the threshold and let your imaginations soar with Mackenzie’s stunning new release, Once in a Blue Moon. Diehard Mackenzie fans know that Mackenzie is a true artist who is constantly growing and developing, exploring new mediums and new imagery. His inspirations come from all around, at times the ideas sit in his head, he might rework and revistit themes over a period of years, letting ideas germinate and grow with new experiences and maturing thoughts. The evolvement of the ‘Hill’ images is one such development. Hills have intermittently appeared in Mackenzie’s work over the years. The Love, Life, Death and Hope show featured hill images such as ‘Angels’ (in homage to Anthony Gormley) or ‘Trying to fly’. Years before Mackenzie had commercial success, one of his first exhibitions featured hill images. His good friend Susan Catten still has one of these works circa 1984 hanging on her wall. Now for the first time a Hill image is being made available on general release as a silkscreen. They are a bit thought provoking, they are new imagery, but just like the sheep images before them they are ahead of their time, forward thinking, progressive and absolutely guaranteed to communicate with discerning collectors of Mackenzie’s work around the world.
