ANIMATION
As any genuine fan of Mackenzie’s’ knows, he gains huge inspiration from films and movie soundtracks. For many years he has visualised his work in animation and has even had a dream which unrolled as a complete film. Therefore he was thrilled when Siobhan Fenton from Teesside University / Lynchpin productions approached him with a proposal to work on a short pilot animation project.
The venue is now nearing completion and is titled “The Long Walk Home”. The boy in a duffle coat is featured in isolation against the stunning bleak beauty of a landscape full of challenge. As always the piece provided a metaphor for life’s struggle, combined with the ultimate belief in love and hope, a theme which appears so often in Mackenzie’s work, Mackenzie worked on his ideas, drawing on paper the stages of the boys’ journey which enabled the filmmakers and animator, John Hedley, to combine the original artwork with computer generated models to build up the one minute short film.
