Mackenzie Thorpe's art should be part of the National Curriculum this is what kids, parents, teachers, professors tell us. Children have grown up with the naive bigheads, the sheep, the duffle coat boy and other icons too numerous to mention. We have been astounded at the response from children to both Mackenzie and his work. They connect; they understand and they are eager for more.Youngsters tell Grandparents, Dads tell their mates and all of a sudden we are all talking the language of Thorpe. Mackenzie’s art communicates with so many people, crosses so many barriers, raise so many questions, it is a fantastic tool to use as an educational resource. Based on this we want to hear from you all, we want to know what information and materials you need from us, which would help you most.It is easy for us to send you the video and tell you the stories but for those of you doing your G.C..E.’s , or A levels, if there is specific information you are needing let us know. For teachers who are looking for innovative ways to work within the national curriculum at all key stages, we can help. We already have some links with schools and education providers, and are hoping to develop them further so we can find out exactly what is needed and build on our reputation as an invaluable resource. The opportunity for bulletin boards, for key stage work info is massive but we want to work with you. We want to make our Education pages a hive of activity so if you have ideas, or suggestions email us:
At every stage of his career Mackenzie has lent both his name and time to DYSLEXIA. last year in recognition of his input he was made an honouree member of the Dyslexia Institute. Over the past couple of years he has worked In Japan with the EDGE charity (a charity focusing on the needs of dyslexic children in Japan) and throughout the UK has continued to support local initiatives. This all goes on no matter where he is in the world, his support is ongoing.
In 2005 we will be looking towards working with such organizations through the 'NO ONE TO CATCH ME' Mackenzie Thorpe foundation and as always he will carry on working with young people all over the world.
Mackenzie donated ‘The Deliverer of Hope’ to the Dyslexia Institute and this was auctioned in a stiff bidding war eventually raising £17,000, for the bursary fund. This fantastic image is available as a greetings card at Arthaus, Mackenzies gallery and has recently been released in a collectable icon collection set. for further details email:
